Position Overview:

As the R&D Project Manager, you will play a key role in supporting our R&D team leaders in executing the development of our advanced optical transceiver ICs. Your mission is to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, aligning with company goals and the requirements of publicly funded grant programs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, ensuring clear documentation and tracking of project scope, milestones, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Prepare and monitor R&D project budgets, ensuring accurate cost tracking.
  • Compile annual summaries of R&D objectives and achievements.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D team leaders and technical teams to align project execution with company strategy.
  • Recommend adjustments to plans or resources to help meet project deadlines and targets.
  • Generate regular reports on project status, progress, risks, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain comprehensive and organized project documentation.
  • Coordinate activities with KD’s assembly and test fab team for prototyping, qualification, and production phases.
  • Serve as the technical lead for public grant projects, managing documentation, overseeing execution, and leading technical audits by external bodies.
  • Support partnerships with external companies and potential customers, contributing to technical discussions, agreements, and Proof-of-Concept initiatives.
  • Manage communications with suppliers, track progress, and identify new potential vendors.
  • Assist R&D team leaders in establishing and maintaining relationships with universities and research institutions.
  • Lead communication with patent attorneys, managing the administrative process for patent filings related to project outcomes.
  • Oversee the execution of NDAs with external collaborators and vendors.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Telecommunications, Industrial, or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in R&D project management, preferably in hardware/software development.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
  • On-site presence required at our headquarters in Tres Cantos, Madrid (up to 10 hours of remote work per week permitted).

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Background in microelectronics is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to ensure project scope compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with project management tools, version control systems, and issue tracking software.
